If you were to dream up the perfect Real Estate Agent, it would be the same as having DiAne Boese, so why not hire the real thing? This is especially true if you are a couple like my wife and I who were looking for a one-story house as their "For the Duration" home or if you are a young couple trying to find their first "For Now" home--or anyone in between who needs an experienced realtor who listens, understands the client's needs, and works until she succeeds.
Here is what we told DiAne we needed: a one-story house with great light in a safe, quiet residential neighborhood with (relatively) low taxes that had three good-sized bedrooms, two full baths, a front porch, a back sunroom, a functional living room/dining room, a full, semi-finished basement, a two-car garage, a fenced yard for our dog Augie, and great neighbors from up and down our new street who would introduce themselves and bring us chocolate-chip cookies. All this for under our $420,000 max budget!
It took a while, so you have to be patient and trust your realtor, and that is part of our point. DiAne worked with us, showed us scores of homes in the inner suburbs of Chicago, helped us find at least five homes we really liked given our criteria (and helped us think through what was really important to us and what we could live without), walked us through three firm offers we made (two of which were accepted but we lost because of a sales contingency we had at the time but the third we won despite eight other offers), and found the home we bought (that had just come on the market that day) in Niles, Illinois, where we just moved in May of 2023.
Plus, DiAne held our hands when we were down, shared in our joys, and made sure we did not mess up the closing. What more can you ask of a realtor, whether to list your home or find your new one? DiAne is honest, very involved in her own religious institution, and a community social justice organization, has two teens (one in college and one in high school), and has great senses of both humor and social justice.
