The Villages is a collection of neighborhoods featuring mostly single-family homes, some duplexes, and a smaller number of apartments. Housing ranges from gorgeous and architecturally diverse historic homes to desirable condos right on the riverfront. One of the most established older areas of Detroit, the Villages are known for lush tree-lined streets, some with gas lighting. The area is located on the city’s east side, north of the Detroit River and just a five-minute drive from Downtown Detroit. You can also bike downtown within 10 minutes thanks to the many protected bike lanes that make it easy to cycle. Though the Villages are mainly residential, new bars and restaurants mean you can also eat and drink local.
