Oxon Hill

Discover the historic charm of Oxon Hill, an enchanting Maryland town that pays homage to its colonial roots. Named after Thomas Addison's 18th-century manor home, the current Oxon Hill Manor, built in 1929, is a stunning neo-Georgian-style mansion perched on a bluff overlooking the Potomac River. Today, it is owned by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, and is a cultural hub used for educational programs and grand events, including breathtaking weddings.

Oxon Hill is an easy drive from Washington, D.C. and is situated along the bustling Capital Beltway (I-95/495) and near the interstate Woodrow Wilson Bridge. The newly enlarged bridge opened in 2008, relieving decades of daily traffic congestion that snaked into the town. The area has a mix of townhomes, garden apartments, and single-family homes, built between the 1940s and early 1990s. Forest Heights, a lovely incorporated town, is also part of Oxon Hill's charming community.

Two main shopping centers, "Rivertowne" and "Eastover", attract neighborhood customers and visitors from nearby Southeast Washington, D.C. "Eastover" is a transportation hub for many bus routes, with some operating 24 hours a day. It also houses a Prince George's County Police station. The apartment communities closest to the D.C. line are affectionately known as "Glassmanor", an original name that still holds. Oxon Hill's unique community also boasts a large cultural center and nursing home, catering to its ethnic Filipino population, who are a significant part of the town's rich tapestry.

Explore the charming historic sites of Oxon Hill, including the Oxon Cove Park, St. Ignatius Church, and the Butler House. With its charming neighborhoods, excellent schools, and easy access to Washington, D.C., Oxon Hill offers residents the perfect balance of history, convenience, and modern luxury.
