Montgomery Village, a luxurious, planned suburban community, is nestled just outside the bustling city limits of Gaithersburg. With a population of over 32,000 at the time of the 2010 U.S. Census, this vibrant community is a coveted part of the prestigious Washingtonian metropolitan area.

In 1962, Kettler Brothers, Inc. had a grand vision for the area, led by acclaimed architect Charles Kettler. The first purchase was the magnificent Walker Farm, which spanned an impressive 412 acres (1.67 km2) and is now home to the Montgomery Village Library, Montgomery Village Day-Care Center, and other coveted developments such as Walkers Choice, Dockside, and Nathan's Hill. Other purchases included The Mills Farm, The French Farm, The Patton Farm, The Fulks Farm, The Wilson Farm, and The James Walter Deppa property, resulting in the awe-inspiring Montgomery Village we know today.

On February 28, 1966, the Kettler brothers broke ground for the first house in Montgomery Village. The first model homes opened in August 1967, with the Lakeside of Whetstone and Clusters of Stedwick neighborhoods leading the way. In September of the same year, Montgomery Village Golf Club opened, with the first residents moving into Goshenside on September 25, 1967. The Crosby family also moved in on the same day, settling into a home on Whetstone Drive. The Montgomery Village Foundation was incorporated in 1966, with the Whetstone Community Center opening in 1968. The same year saw the opening of Whetstone Elementary and Montgomery Village Junior High schools, further cementing the community's status as a coveted residential enclave.

Montgomery Village's unincorporated area is defined by Montgomery County zoning rules and its own unique ZIP code.
