Originally named Forksville, the Village of Volo was thriving for more than a century before it reached a fork in the road: incorporate or risk being consumed by surrounding villages.
Volo chose to incorporate in 1993 to protect its way of life. Now, the village is home to several locally owned antique and gift shops, as well as the Volo Auto Museum. With 33 exhibits, the museum features an incredible selection of vintage artifacts from the first motorcycle to a self-playing orchestra.
The Lake County village is easily accessible by U.S. Route 12 and Illinois Routes 59, 60, and 120.
