Billed as the “Town of Tomorrow,” the northwest suburb has experienced immense progress since becoming incorporated in 1957.
Streamwood was once known for the dozens of farms that were scattered throughout the area. The farms soon gave way to suburbs. Today, the village is characterized by a housing stock that is suitable for all income levels, abundant parks and recreational activities, great schools, and cultural activities.
Streamwood is home to more than a dozen local events that celebrate the various cultures and history of the community, such as the Streamwood Summer Celebration. The family-friendly celebration spans three days that are packed with activities for the kids, games, and live entertainment.
Approximately 600 commercial and industrial businesses occupy property within Streamwood’s corporate limits, providing citizens with ample opportunities to work in their community.
The village is served by Elgin Area School District U46, the second largest district in the state. A small subdivision is served by School District 54 and Township District 211 high school.
