Aptly called “a place to grow,” Pingree Grove is one of the fastest-growing communities in the northwest suburbs. With only 124 people and 48 homes in 2000, the village has seen exponential expansion and development and is now home to nearly 10,000 residents.
Credited with much of that growth is The Cambridge Lakes subdivision, where residents not only enjoy new homes with a myriad of amenities, but also 360 acres of open space, including 12 lakes, several parks, and more than five miles of trails. Additional residential neighborhoods offer new construction opportunities and have added to the village’s development in recent years.
Recreation abounds thanks to local parks and the Pingree Grove Forest Preserve, where activities include birdwatching, hiking, and biking. Meanwhile, there are plenty of seasonal festivities throughout the year. The Stars and Stripes Celebration is a summertime favorite with food, fireworks, and a parade, and there is also a community-wide garage sale each June. Located in Pingree Grove, Goebbert’s Pumpkin Patch and Apple Orchard draws crowds from around Illinois to experience U-Pick vegetable fields, farm stands, and a fall festival, plus a holiday light show during the winter. Despite the village’s growth, Pingree Grove maintains all the advantages of a charming small town.
