Located within the neighborhood of Logan Square, Palmer Square is a “pocket neighborhood” located on the northwest side of Chicago.
The area is named for the Palmer Square Park, a seven-acre park on the west side of the community. The park features play areas for children, walking and jogging trails, open recreational areas, and seating for those who simply wish to sit and enjoy the natural beauty of the neighborhood. Palmer Square is characterized by its charming tree-lined streets, which lie within reach of a number of popular restaurants, bars and shops.
Public education is provided by the Chicago Public Schools system, which offers education to children in grades K-12. Additionally, there are a number of private schools in nearby Logan Square, including: Our Lady of Grace School, St. John Berchmans School, and St. Sylvester School. The neighborhood is conveniently located just west of Interstate 90/94, and along the ‘L’ via the Blue Line. The CTA also operates numerous bus routes throughout the neighborhood.
While Palmer Square is surrounded by some of Chicago's trendiest areas for nightlife, including Bucktown and Wicker Park, the area has its own low-key entertainment district featuring locally owned restaurants, bars and bistros. The work of the many artists and musicians who live in nearby Logan Square can be sampled at local coffee shops, lounges, cafes and theatres that help fuel the community's artistic vibe.
