Old Norwood Park

Old Norwood Park is a unique historic district with a strong sense of community. Home to the Noble-Seymour-Crippen House, which is widely considered to be the oldest house in Chicago, the community is known for its well-maintained residences and historic landmarks that date back to the 1800s. Old Norwood Park is also characterized by its curved streets – a departure from the typical grid pattern found throughout Chicago.

Located on the northwestern edge of the city, Old Norwood Park is reminiscent of a suburb in that it offers large lots, tree-lined streets, and a charming residential community. The area draws homebuyers who appreciate tranquil living while still enjoying easy access to downtown Chicago and surrounding neighborhoods and suburbs. The Norwood Park train station takes commuters to Chicago’s Ogilvie Transportation Center in about 25 minutes, while I-90 provides additional transportation options to both the city and O’Hare International Airport.   

Old Norwood Park was added to the National Register of Historic Places in the early 2000s. The community’s historical society is committed to preserving the area’s character and offers programs and events at the Noble-Seymour-Crippen House. Residents also look forward to local events that are held annually, including a Memorial Day parade and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
