Mettawa

Situated 29 miles northwest of Chicago's Loop, Mettawa is a small town characterized by its beautiful open lands and rural, equestrian setting. Named after a Potawatomi chief who once lived in the area, Mettawa was incorporated as a village in 1960.

The village also offers eight horse stables and five forest preserves, which are maintained by The Lake County Forest Preserve District. Neighboring communities such as Libertyville and Vernon Hills provide an abundance of nearby shopping and dining opportunities. Notable residents of Mettawa include Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte and legendary commentator and producer, Bill Kurtis.
