Nestled on its namesake lake, the Village of McCullom Lake is a quiet community with less than 1,000 residents. While the village was not incorporated until 1955, it began to take shape in the 1920s with summer cottages that were built along the lake.
McCullom Lake is known locally for offering excellent ice fishing, as the lake has a maximum depth of only nine feet and it freezes over quickly in the winter. During the summer months, swimming and boat access are available at West Beach Park or Peterson Park Beach. Near the beach, Peterson Park has plenty of green space as well as several ball fields.
There are a handful of local businesses within McCullom Lake that further enhance the spirit of community. Family-owned restaurants and shops can be found in the business district and larger retailers are located beyond the village limits.
