East Dundee

A small village with hometown pride, East Dundee is located along the banks of the picturesque Fox River.

Outdoor enthusiasts can enjoy the famed Fox River Trail that runs for over 40 miles and passes through the village. The McHenry County Prairie Trail offers an additional 26 miles of hiking and biking off the beaten path. While a bit smaller than neighboring West Dundee, East Dundee still provides a multitude of housing options including new construction and existing homes with plenty of surrounding property. East Dundee’s vibrant downtown features quaint shopping and dining options that maintain the integrity of the village’s historic past, allowing residents and visitors to step back in time.

The newly renovated Depot and surrounding area are East Dundee’s centerpiece, especially during summer months. A hub of activity, the Depot hosts two different weekend markets, including a general market on Saturday and a farmers market on Sunday that provides locally sourced wares from various Kane County farmers and merchants, along with live music, special events, and community lunches. The calendar is full year-round with events like Oktoberfest, Motor Monday, Wine Down Wednesday, Thirsty Thursday, and a local St. Patrick’s Day parade, giving locals an opportunity to gather and celebrate regional food, music, holidays, and traditions.
